Nagaland exempted from CUET for 2024-25 academic year

KOHIMA — The Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India, has granted an exemption to affiliated colleges of Nagaland University from the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) for the 2024-25 academic year.

This decision comes in response to a request from the Government of Nagaland, citing operational difficulties in implementing the CUET within the state. A letter dated April 26, addressed to Bhagirath Jha, Director (Admin & Coordn) of the National Testing Agency (NTA), from Beena Menon, Under Secretary for CUET, confirmed the exemption.

“I am directed to inform that the request of Government of Nagaland has been considered and accordingly, due to operational difficulties as mentioned in their letter, it has been decided to allow affiliated colleges of Nagaland to take admission as per prevailing practice by giving exemption from CUET for the academic year 2024-25 only,” stated the letter, accessed by this newspaper on Monday.

As previously reported, the Higher Education department of the Nagaland government had formally requested this exemption from the Ministry of Education, underscoring the lack of adequate facilities within the state to conduct the CUET.

Consequently, the Ministry considered the request and granted the exemption for Nagaland.
