DIMAPUR — The Career Guidance and Placement Cell at Sazolie College in Kohima organised a career guidance programme for BA 6th-semester and MA students on the theme “Trailblaze tomorrow” on Monday at Vineizono Hall.

According to a press release, resource persons from Mavericks Academy, Vekhohu Puro, Vehuto Kezo, and Vedezo Neinu covered topics such as career opportunities in the government and private sectors, startup opportunities and entrepreneurship, and preparing for the Nagaland Public Service Commission examination during the programme.

The speakers emphasised the importance of cultivating key core values such as humility, sincerity, hard work, and a willingness to learn. They added that finding resourceful mentors with experience in the chosen field is equally imperative to achieving the goal.

Regarding exam preparation, Puro highlighted the varied levels of central and state examinations that students can prepare for. He noted that preparation encourages aspirants to venture into other professions even if they fail to secure a desired job.

Furthermore, he highlighted other avenues in the private sector that one can pursue by equipping themselves with some basic skills.

Kezo focused on startup opportunities and entrepreneurship, discussing how to identify problems and leverage them to one’s advantage. Through personal experiences, he emphasised the importance of upskilling, building resilience, and consistently learning from experienced mentors.

From the aspirant’s perspective, Neinu shared his exam journey, shedding light on how he cleared through sheer hard work after a few years of preparation. He advised the students that there’s no place for moderate aspirants as the exam process is becoming more competitive with changing patterns, urging them to prepare seriously if they choose to undertake the journey.

The programme was chaired by Kesolou Khutso, assistant professor, department of English, and Dr. Puspanjoli D Nakhro, academic dean, gave the welcome address.
