ANSU urges govt. to expedite relief to villages devastated by hailstorm
DIMAPUR — The All Nchangram Students’ Union (ANSU), Peren, has informed that on March 26, Nchangram and Azailong villages in Peren district faced an unprecedented onslaught of heavy rain and hailstorm, resulting in widespread devastation to property, livestock and residential structures.
In a press release, the ANSU said that the catastrophic event has left the affected communities reeling from substantial losses and damages.
“Preliminary assessments indicate that nearly all residences in the affected areas have suffered varying degrees of damage, ranging from partial destruction to complete devastation,” it claimed.

Fortunately, there was no report of any loss of human lives, the union said.
The union has appealed to the state government and concerned authorities to expedite the provision of urgent relief to the affected households. “It is imperative to address the immediate needs of the affected families to alleviate their suffering and facilitate their recovery process,” it said.
Further, the ANSU maintained that there is a pressing need for accurate assessments of the incurred damages to facilitate targeted assistance and rehabilitation efforts.
“In light of this unprecedented natural disaster, we urge the authorities to mobilise all available resource and support mechanisms to aid the affected communities in rebuilding their lives.
“The resilience of Nchangram and Azailong villages will be tested in the aftermath of this calamity, and it is our collective responsibility to stand in solidarity with those affected and provide them with the necessary assistance and support they require,” the union added.
