PCC conducts Tuisem A Shikshak Annual Lecture
DIMAPUR — The golden jubilee edition of the Tuisem A Shikshak Annual Lecture, organised by Patkai Christian College (PCC) (Autonomous) and the Alumni Association of Patkai Christian College, was held on March 23.
Themed “Dare to dream: Patkai Christian College and the future,” focusing on the college’s journey and its vision for the future of education, the programme featured the presentation of the annual Alumni Excellence Award, which was conferred upon Lanu Tzudir.
Lanu Tzudir, Zonal Secretary of the Union of Evangelical Students of India (UESI)-NE Zone, is a member of the batch of 1998, according to a press release.
During the event, Dr. Visakhonü Hibo, principal of Japfü Christian College, remarked that the college’s invaluable resources should be fully explored without compromising its extensive green spaces or profound spiritual values, in line with its motto of “Light and Truth.”
Hibo emphasised the role of educators in nurturing the next generation, urging them to go the extra mile in ensuring students’ holistic development. She underscored the importance of equipping students with practical skills and real-world knowledge, rather than relying solely on traditional rote learning methods.
“We have been ignorantly letting students earn their degrees via a rote system or the memorising culture with archived syllabi, which have no relevance to real-life situations or help assist in livelihood intervention schemes,” she said, adding that it is time they foster a culture of skill-based learning and innovation.
She further stated that the NEP 2020 is expected to overhaul 50% of the existing education pattern, aiming to open avenues for students to be well-prepared with skills for the long run.
