DIMAPUR — Jal Shakti Committee of Sao Chang College, Tuensang, on Friday organised activities to observe World Water Day 2024 on the theme ‘Water for peace’.

The event was aimed to underscore the importance of freshwater and promote sustainable water management practices, an update stated.

Coordinator of the Jal Shakti Committee highlighted on the theme, the critical need to conserve freshwater and it’s potential to foster global collaboration and peace or conflicts. He encouraged all the participants to consider the relationship between water, conflict and cooperation in addressing water-related challenges.

Following the presentation, participants were given hands-on experience on water quality testing and monitoring exercises. Additionally, they undertook a photo pledge committing to participate in mission towards local-level water conservation initiatives with global implications.

Meanwhile, the committee acknowledged the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) Tuensang, for providing water-quality testing kits.
