DIMAPUR — A five-day block level training programme aimed at enhancing the capabilities of government teachers in Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) and Foundation Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) held at multi-purpose hall in Sanis under Wokha district concluded on March 16.
The five-day training was organised with an aimed to familiarise the teachers with the utilisation of handbook, supplemented by additional sessions on FLN and effective integration of worksheets and supplementary materials tailored for the foundational stage of education, stated an update from School Education department.
The primary goal of the training was to equip teachers with the necessary skills and knowledge about the Nagaland ECCE curriculum slated for implementation in all government schools starting from the academic session of 2024.
The programme, organised for Educational Block Resource Centre (EBRC) in Sanis block, witnessed the participation of 46 teachers representing 21 schools.
The training with resource persons namely Daisy and Phyodemo was aimed at equipping the educators with modern methodologies and best practices in ECCE and FLN.
In his keynote address, Thungchio Shitiri, assistant director of School Education, highlighted the significance of the training and its alignment with recent initiatives in ECCE and FLN. He emphasised the importance of laying strong foundation in early childhood education for lifelong learning.
The event was attended by officials including Dr. Bijano Murry, joint mission director of Samagra Shiksha, Kohima; Veketulu Veyie, senior lecturer and state resource person at SCERT, and Mughato Swu, programme manager of ChangeInkk.
The resource persons have emphasised the government’s commitment to promoting education excellence at grassroots.
Samuel Konyak, SDO of Sanis, extended his best wishes to the participants and encouraged them to make the most of the training opportunity. Raphael Zubonthung, SDEO of Sanis, also addressed the gathering, stressing the importance of continuous professional development for educators.
Meanwhile, EBRC coordinator Esther Kikon elucidated on the objectives of the training programme, emphasising its role in enhancing teaching effectiveness and student outcomes.
Report stated that the knowledge and skills gained by the participating teachers are expected to positively impact classroom practices, ultimately benefiting the students.
Meanwhile, the School Education department informed that a five-day capacity-building for in-service government teachers of EBRC Tseminyu on ECCE and FLN will be held from March 18 to the 22nd at EBRC training hall in Tseminyu town.
A total of 120 teachers comprising one teacher teaching in pre-primary and two teachers teaching in classes 1 to 5 from 40 schools under Tseminyu district would attend the training. The resource persons will be officials from SCERT, trainer of teachers (ToT) and trained ECCE teachers.
