NRC on Mithun conducts Mithun mela in Arunachal

DIMAPUR — The Indian Council for Agriculture Research – National Research Centre (ICAR-NRC) on Mithun, Nagaland, successfully conducted a Mithun mela-cum-health camp at Riga village, Siang district in Arunachal Pradesh, on March 6.

The camp saw over 400 active farmers participating in the event, which focused on providing vaccination and treatment services to Mithuns, an update stated.

The event also focused on providing rewards to Mithun farmers being recognised in various categories such as, best bull, best dam, best heifer, best calf and maximum Mithun collector.

Farmers also received valuable TSP inputs for establishment of semi-intensive Mithun rearing units. Additionally, around 72 Mithuns were given the tag for identification purposes.

The event saw the presence of several government officials, along with scientists and technical officers advocating for scientific Mithun rearing techniques and production technologies.

Dr. Anthony Pertin, the district veterinary officer of Siang, coordinated the event alongside the VFA staff members.

Deputy Commissioner of Siang, PN Thungun was the chief guest while Superintendent of Police, Opirparon was the guest of honour.
