NSCPCR organises Pariksha Parv campaign in Kohima

DIMAPUR —Nagaland State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NSCPCR), in collaboration with the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), organised the Pariksha Parv at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV), Yakokie in Kohima, on Saturday.

Pariksha Parv is a campaign to help children cope with exam stress and anxiety and the programme was organised under the aegis of National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (Northeast Cell), stated an update SCERT.

The primary objective of the programme was to celebrate examination as a festival as inspired by the prime minister and to create a platform for discussion and interaction on examination related matters. The programme was organised to create examination as a joy for children to express their talent and to help students overcome examination stress.

Speaking at the programme, Alun Hangsing, chairman of NSCPCR, stressed the need for celebrating examination like any other festival and a platform for expressing one’s talent.

Dr. Zavise Rume, professor at SCERT, and Akumla Longchari, member of NSCPCR, were the resource persons of the programme.

In his speech, Dr. Rume emphasized that examinations are equally important for teachers to determine the extent of achieving the educational objective in the teaching-learning process. He suggested the participants to adopt new strategies to make examination more joyful and interesting so as to reduce examination stresses.

He also suggested various techniques for management of stress related to examinations.

Meanwhile, Akumla Longhcari spoke on the primary objective of the programme and the examination mantras for parents and students. She suggested strategies to help students in managing examination stress and overcome suicidal mindset.

The programme was attended by 154 parents and teachers from Kohima district.
