DIMAPUR — The Department of Power filed a petition before the Nagaland Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) on December 21, 2023, for approval of the aggregate revenue requirement (ARR) and tariff proposal for the financial year 2024-25.
The petition was admitted by the commission on January 12, 2024, and as per the details provided in the petition, the total revenue requirement proposed by the department for FY 2024-25 was INR 901.92 crore, according to a DIPR report.
This includes INR 586.24 crore towards the cost of power purchase, INR 16.13 crore for generation costs, INR 214.56 crore for operations and maintenance expenses, INR 84.99 crore for depreciation and INR 16.10 crore as non-tariff income.
The annual tariff proposal for post-paid consumers includes revised energy charges ranging from INR 3.50 per kWh for the agriculture category to INR 9.40 per kWh for the commercial category (>240 kWh).
For prepaid consumers, flat tariffs between INR 3.30 per kWh and INR 8.60 per kWh have been proposed across categories like domestic, industrial, commercial, bulk and agriculture.
The petition also proposes levying monthly charges on domestic, commercial, industrial and bulk consumers to meet the cost of public lighting. This ranges from INR 10 per connection per month for the domestic category to INR 25 per connection per month for bulk consumers.
NERC has invited suggestions, objections and comments from electricity consumers and stakeholders on the ARR and tariff petition filed by the Department of Power. Interested persons can inspect the detailed petition at the office of the chief engineer (D&R) during office hours and obtain copies for INR 200 per copy.
