Northeast Frontier Railway sells scrap items worth INR 103.55 crore
DIMAPUR — To make its ‘Zero Scrap Mission’ successful, the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has taken up significant steps towards identifying and disposing such items, starting with making each division, workshop and sheds free from scrap material.
The NFR sold 12542 MT scrap rails/p-way materials and 8268 MT of miscellaneous scrap items during the current financial year (up to 31st December 2023) besides 12 diesel locomotives, 157 coaches and 122 wagons as part of the mission, it said in an update on Monday.
The material sold was worth INR 103.55 crore, which is 3.19% higher than last year’s sale value of INR 100.35 crore, it added.
This mission has not only helped in surpassing the scrap sale target but also improved the aesthetics of stations, workplaces and surrounding areas, as well as keep the railway premises clean and environment friendly, said the update.
