DIMAPUR —The Phek District Bar Association (PDBA) held its general body meeting on February 16 at the District Court Complex in Phek, presided over by Ithemvü Mekru.
According to a press release from the association, in his presidential address, Povotso Lohe urged district advocates to work hard to achieve limitless progress and to persevere in reaching maturity in order to compete with others in today’s fast-paced world.
The Deputy Commissioner, Phek, Kuko Mero, and the District and Sessions Judge, Neiko Akami, both encouraged the district’s legal fraternity to work hard and achieve greater success in their professions.
Earlier, Rev. Dr. Thüpucüyi Khesoh, Pastor of Phek Town Baptist Church (PTBC), delivered the invocation prayer, and Hobito Swüro performed a special song.
The election of new PDBA office-bearers for the next three-year term following the expiration of the tenure of the current office-bearers was unable to take place due to low attendance of its active members on the Advocates Roll of the District Bar, it stated.
During the business session, the house decided to entrust its election commission and the PDBA’s advisory board, which consists of five members, with the task of arranging for the election of new office bearers as soon as possible.
