DIMAPUR — Stakeholders of Satakha range under Zunhebotot district have adopted three-point strategy to improve enrolment of students in government schools.

The resolution to this effect was taken during a consultative meeting held at Satakha town on Friday, which was initiated by the minister of PWD (Road and Bridges), G Kaito Aye. A DIPR report stated that the meeting was attended by leaders from various towns and villages including officials from the Education department, GBs, student bodies, teachers.

The meeting resolved that all teachers should refrain from engaging in external services unless they are able to fully dedicate their time to their primary duty. It also resolved that the village and its council should provide accommodation required by teachers to stay in their assigned posting village.

It further resolved to initiate a comprehensive enrollment drive and encourage parents and students to enroll in their respective village government schools. In this regard, it has sought collaborative efforts of local leaders, community organisations to support the enrollment drive and to report to SDEO with progress reports.

During the meeting, the officer on special duty (OSD) to the minister, Hukato Murru, stressed upon the minister’s serious concerns over the deteriorating enrollment of students in most of the government schools in the area. He appealed the GBs to focus on those aspects in their villages and areas to enhance enrollments of students in their respective schools for progressive development and future of schools in the sub-division.

The OSD concluded by conveying regret of the minister on his inability to be present at the meeting personally due to some unavoidable government assignment.

Meanwhile, the SDEO of Satakha, David Zhimo, informed that the main agenda of the consultative meeting was to retrospect on declining enrollment of students and to raise enrollment of students in government schools in the area. He further appealed to the teachers to update themselves with the latest teaching system and be sincere to online teaching trainings policies.
