DIMAPUR — The Phek District Hospital (DH) has appreciated the 38th Assam Rifles for constantly supporting to the patient care through the blood donation by the jawans as there is no blood bank or blood storage facility currently at DH Phek.
An update from the office of the chief medical officer (CMO), Phek, stated that on numerous instances there were very critical patients admitted needing emergency surgical interventions. It added that many patients do not have related blood donors for blood transfusion and found it difficult to mobilise voluntary blood donors in many emergency situations.
It stated that the District Hospital regularly reached out to the 38th Assam Rifles for the blood donors. It informed that the unit had been supportive and promptly sent the donors on request.
Report further stated that the yeoman service rendered by the Assam Rifles has enabled in performing many life saving procedures especially emergency caesarean section, ruptured ectopic pregnancy and severe bleeding cases. It has highly commended the unique and noble gesture towards the humanity and expressed hope that the outstanding service to the public would continue even in the future.
