DIMAPUR — Coinciding with the launch of ‘Lakhpati Didi’ scheme by the prime minister of India, Nagaland State Rural Livelihood Mission (NSRLM) conducted a one-day district-level credit camp at Kubolong rural development (RD) block under Mokokchung district on February 4.
The camp was organised by the District Mission Management Unit (DMMU) of NSRLM. The main objective of the credit camp was to promote and encourage women self help group (SHG) members to take up individual enterprise by availing loans from the banks so as to alleviate their livelihoods as well as to make them economically stable.
Speaking at the programme, Kheza Kin, branch manager of Central Bank of India (CBI), Kubolong, highlighted on how to avail loans as well as the various products of loans and encouraged the SHG members to utilise the loans in the right way.
An update from NSRLM stated that a total of 13 SHGs under Kubolong block were handed loan sanctioned by the branch manager of CBI, Kubolong.
Pursenla, field officer of Nagaland State Cooperative Bank (NStCB), Mokokchung, acknowledged the NSRLM as the only mission that is successful and delivering from the grassroots. She challenged the SHG members to come together and work as one so as to bring about changes in the community.
She further encouraged the SHG members to continue availing loans and to maintain proper loan recovery.
Mongchen Aier, district coordinator (financial inclusion) of NSRLM, informed that a total of 760 SHGs have availed loan from different banking institutes across Mokokchung district. He added that till date there are 1283 SHGs under Mokokchung district with over 9000 SHG members.
The programme was chaired by Limasunep, area coordinator (financial inclusion), while the introductory address was delivered by Subotula, block programme manager of Kubolong RD block.
