DIMAPUR — Advisor of Law and Justice and Land Revenue, TN Mannen, called upon the people of Noklak to collectively put in ‘realistic and united strategy’ in order to uplift the district at par with others in all aspects.

Mannen stated this during the consultative meeting of the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP), Noklak region, held at Jungyam Fishery Farm on January 17. He has sought collective efforts since both the elected MLAs from Noklak district are temporarily deprived of a ministerial berth going by the present political arrangement though they are also part of the opposition-less government under the leadership of Nagaland Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio.

With an international trade centre already planted in Noklak bordering Myanmar, Mannen underscored the geographic value of the frontier district and its potential from an economic point of view. He also encouraged the public of Noklak to inculcate work culture by indicating the famed handlooms and handicrafts of Noklak as an example, which is considered one of the finest in the entire state, stated an update from the press secretary to the advisor.

Stressing on the unity of Nagas as a race, the advisor pointed that the Nagas as a whole is a small community and therefore should guard this unity and oneness while pursuing their common policies and interests, be it issues concerning ENPO, NTC, CNTC or any organisations.

On the matter of suspension of the free movement regime (FMR) along Indo-Myanmar border, Mannen said that it is a controversial political issue which needs to be addressed tactfully by both Indian and Myanmar governments.

The advisor also shared his optimism that the people of Noklak would give a resounding mandate in favour of the candidate fielded under the dynamic leadership of Neiphiu Rio in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. He also asked the party officials to gear up and be ready for the task ahead.

He further gave commitment to address the need of NDPP Noklak region office at the earliest as discussed in the consultative meeting.

The welcome address was delivered by P Pheem Shiu, president of NDPP Noklak region. Short speeches were delivered by Shingnyo, vice president of NDPP Nagaland and in-charge of Noklak region; S Heno, former MLA; and Tali, general secretary of NDPP Mokokchung region.
