PCO celebrates cultural day in Yisisotha village

DIMAPUR — Phoyisha Cultural Organisation (PCO) celebrated cultural day on January 10 in Yisisotha village under Meluri sub-division with Dr. Pritpal Kaur, superintendent of police, Phek, as the special guest.

A DIPR report stated that Dr. Kaur inaugurated the programme by unfurling the flag. She spoke on the significance of cultural values and urged everyone to preserve their rich heritage and culture. She also suggested documenting one’s histories and generational traditions.

Besides, she motivated the youth to follow their dreams and career instead of drugs or other intoxicants to make their tribe and society more peaceful and prosperous.

It stated that cultural troupes from ten villages namely Phor, New Phor, Wuzu, Molen, Yisi, Shatuza, Weziho, Yisisota, Hutsü and Küzatü participated in traditional games. Competitions in traditional bow and arrow shooting, singing, dancing and traditional games were conducted.

The programme began with an invocation prayer said by pastor S Kochu and welcome address by Kuiyiphu Sharu, PCO chairman.

The valedictory guest was advocate Chitho Nyusou.

More than 500 persons attended the programme.
