IGAR reviews security situation in border areas

DIMAPUR — Inspector General Assam Rifles (North), Major General Vikas Lakhera. visited Assam Rifles Company Operating Base at Lungwa in Mon district of Nagaland and reviewed the prevailing security situation at Indo-Myanmar border.

A defence release stated that the General also interacted with the troops over a cup of tea and enquired about their well being during the visit. He also motivated the troops to perform their tasks with utmost honesty and sincerity strictly by abiding the strong ethos of the force in a humane manner.

The General also visited Border Pillar Number 154 and 155 located on Patkai Ridgeline.

Besides, the General visited the house of chief Angh in Lungwa village where he discussed the security situation with the village council members and exhorted them to continue helping Assam Rifles in maintaining peace and tranquility in the area.

In another programme, Assam Rifles conducted a security meeting and awareness session with the village GBs and village council members in Changlangshu under Mon district on January 8.

The meeting was conducted to discuss security related issues along Indo-Myanmar border. It stated that the leaders have assured to cooperate with the Assam Rifles.

Meanwhile, it informed that the students from remote area of Noklak district, who are on National Integration Tour (NIT), visited the Kohima War Cemetery and Regional Centre of Excellence for Music and Performing Arts RCEMPA) in Jotsoma village on the fifth day.

It stated that the visit has given the students a unique learning experience into music and arts, historical insights, fostering an understanding of the impact of conflict and the importance of peace. Besides, students were explained the values of sacrifice, resilience and the consequences of war to promote holistic view of history.
