Assam Rifles undertakes various activities across Nagaland

DIMAPUR — Assam Rifles held a security coordination meeting at Chenmoho Post, Mon, on December 31 to foster unity and cooperation with villagers from the Indo-Myanmar border.

According to a press release, the event was significant because of its multifaceted impact on community relations, security enhancement, and collaborative efforts, as well as the fact that it reinforced the understanding that security is a collective responsibility.

Activities in Kohima

The Assam Rifles held a weapon and equipment display for students at Chakabama, Kohima, on Wednesday.

A total of 50 students and their teachers attended the display, and during the event, they were also made aware of various schemes for joining the armed forces.

In addition, on January 2, the Assam Rifles visited the Bright Morning Star Children Home in Kohima and presented gifts and essential items to the children and staff. The aim of the initiative was to bring joy and comfort to the lives of orphan children staying there.

‘A day with company commander’

The Assam Rifles organised ‘A day with company commander’ in which school students along with their teachers were invited to New Thewati COB, Phek district, on Wednesday.

The event was attended by 50 students and three teachers from New Thewati Middle School. During this event, they spent the day with the company commander and participated in a variety of creative activities designed to showcase their talents.

Various fun activities, such as jalebi race, musical chair, and blind hit, were organised in which all the students participated. Additionally, a cake-cutting event was held to celebrate the birthday of a student.

Various sports events

The Chenmoho Students’ Union and Assam Rifles, Mon, jointly organised the ‘Change for the Better Tournament,’ on the theme ‘Defeating drugs and winning at life’.

An update mentioned that the community came together, with athletes of both genders participating in volleyball and athletics and it emphasised the promotion of a healthy lifestyle within the community.

The tournament featured expert talks that shed light on the collaborative effort required to combat drug abuse and it was attended by about 500 people.

At Tizit, the Assam Rifles organised a friendly volleyball match with the youth of Jaboka village. The event was organised with the goal of instilling the value of good health in the local youth.

The opportunity was also used to encourage the young participants to join the armed forces, avoid drugs, and live a happy and healthy lifestyle.

It also conducted a ‘run for fun’ with the students of schools from Pfutsero town on December 30, with 12 students along with five troops of Assam Rifles who participated in the event running for 2.4 km.

Furthermore, the Assam Rifles organised a goodwill volleyball match at Border village, New Thewati, Phek, to bring uniform personnel and youth together in a friendly sporting event. It aimed to foster camaraderie, bridge generations, and promote a sense of community.
