Various cultural troupes enthralls visitors on Day-9
KISAMA — Amid chill weather, the 18 cultural troupes of Nagaland on Saturday enthralled the visitors with cultural extravaganza of the ongoing 24th edition of Hornbill Festival on the ninth day at Naga Heritage Village, Kisama, at the Main Arena.
Chaitali Pamei, Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, was the chief guest of the morning session, while Mohamand Asif, Executive Director of Plan International (India Chapter), was the honoured guest and S Tsapise Sangtam from Santam tribe was the tribal guest.
Advisor of School Education and SCERT, Dr. Kekhrielhoulie Yhome, was the host, while advisor of Minority Affairs and Sericulture, Imkongmar and MLA S Toiho were the co-hosts.
In the session, the tribal troupes including Pochury cultural troupe represented by Phokhungri village from Phek district performed ‘Deyjan Rey Rey’ (folk song of the east), while Kithagha cultural club from Chunlikha village in Tseminyu district representing the Rengma tribe performed a weeding song called ‘Mezokhwe Shenpii,’ and Phom cultural troupe represented by Yongnyah cultural troupe from Longleng presented a men folk love song and the Sangtam Sangli Cultural from Tuensang performed ‘Shong ngutaba’ (top spinning).
Lotha tribe represented by Zechophen cultural club from Bhandari village in Wokha performed a folk song; Sumi tribe represented by the Ghokimi cultural society performed killing of a tiger; Yannu Ponven cultural troupe from Mon representing Konyak tribe performed ‘Vaan tsai’ (song of praise) and the Tikhir tribe represented by Mining Hill cultural troupe from Pokphur village in Kiphire district performed ‘Tsioh Lakti’ (traditional seed game).
Sanglao cultural club from Noklak representing Khiamniungan tribe exhibited ‘Hailaiam’ (traditional marriage), while Mimi village cultural troupe from Kiphire district representing Yimkhiung tribe performed ‘Muyimru’ (friendship dance), Chang tribe represented by the Pilashi cultural troupe from Tuensang village showcased ‘Odang Onet’ (demonstration on cultivation of paddy) and ‘Reuta’ (larvae folk dance) was performed by Intimate Youth Cultural Club from Heningkunglwa in Peren district and Zhavame village cultural troupe from Phek district representing Chakhesang tribe performed ‘Daome Phisho’ (folk dance).
Garo community represented by the Garo cultural troupe from Dubagaon village in Dimapur performed ‘Dim dim chong’ (folk song) and the Ao tribe represented by cultural club from Molungkimong village showcased ‘Horak Lan’ (leisure game), while the Gyanswrang Fwrang Shali cultural troupe from Kushiabill in Dimapur representing Kachari performed ‘Dhal Thungri Mwanai’ (folk dance).
Khonoma Youth Organisation representing the Angami tribe performed ‘Tekhwe riiluo’ (folk dance) and Kuki cultural troupe from New Chalkot in Peren district showcased ‘Suhta lam’ (pestle dance).
