DIMAPUR — 78 and 173 battalions of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) undertook a civic action programme in Sechuma-Zubza and Dimapur on Tuesday.
With an aim to assist the poor and needy villagers and farmers of Sechuma-Zubza village, personnel of 78 CRPF at Zubza distributed rechargeable solar LED lanterns and various type of agriculture tools like spade with handle, pick axe and digging rod (crow bar) for villagers. The items were given away by Manish Kumar Sachar, DIG (Ops) of CRPF, Kohima, in the presence of WR Josuah, commandant of 78 CRPF, officers and men, village council members and the villagers of Sechuma-Zubza during a programme held at the village council hall.
Petekhrietuo, chairman of Sechuma-Zubza village council, expressed gratitude to 78 CRPF for providing LED solar lanterns, which would be useful to the villagers due to frequent load-shedding in their village and its adjacent areas. He added that the agricultural tools would enhance the efficiency of the villagers in cultivation.
Meanwhile, 173 CRPF also organised a civic action programme at its battalion headquarters at Airfield, Dimapur, on November 28.
During the programme, water storage tanks, solar lamps and sports items were distributed to various schools including Eklavya Model Residential School, Diphupar; Life Foundation School, Chümoukedima; Cosmopolitan School, Chümoukedima; and Chalkot Youth Club and High Lander Youth Club of Chümoukedima and Chümoukedima Village Baptist Church and needy people of Diphupar village, Chümoukedima village and people residing near the land allotted to 173 CRPF camp site in Chümoukedima.
Speaking on the occasion, commandant of 173 CRPF, Ashok Kumar Yadav, informed that civic action programme is conducted by CRPF every year in which needy people and institutions like schools, youth clubs, church etc are provided various essential items.
He further elucidated that civic action programme bridges the gap between security forces and local populace. He also thanked local people for their participation in making the programme a success.
Kayio Kayina, assistant commandant; JH Mondal, second in-command; Heiyilung Nsarangbe, deputy commandant; Ambar Ghosh, deputy commandant; Tongkhulun Haokip, assistant commandant; and Withuiliu Newmai, assistant commandant; were also present on the occasion.
Aneibu Kuotsu, associate pastor of Chümoukedima Village Baptist Church, delivered the vote of thanks.
