Hornbill Festival: DC Kohima issues traffic advisory

DIMAPUR — In view of the upcoming Hornbill Festival and related activities, the deputy commissioner of Kohima, has issued travel advisory for Kisama-bound light motor vehicles (LMVs) coming from Dimapur.

Light motor vehicles coming from Dimapur have been asked to take alternate travel route via Old KMC gate – Jotsoma – Forest colony – Old Minister’s Hill – New Minister’s Hill – Aradura – Phesama – Kisama, from during December 1 to the 10th.

The advisory also stated that road signage will be erected at prominent points and junctions for convenience.

In a separate public notice, the DC Kohima informed that all traffic will be restricted from TCP Gate (South) to Razhu Point (North) through NST/Old NST from 4 pm till 9 pm, to facilitate the ‘Night Carnival’ in Kohima town from December 1 to the 10th.

For LMVs and two-wheelers within Kohima town area, the detour is Y Junction – Khuochiezhie (local ground) – Razhu Point.

For city buses proceeding ‘down’ from BOC/PR Hill will take Y Junction – Post Office – DC Office – Assam Rifle gate – Ao Church, and return to BOC/PR Hill side. The drop point for passengers will be at the periphery of the local ground gate. Buses will proceed further and park at the normal parking area, opposite to Oking Hospital, read the advisory.

All buses proceeding ‘up’ from High School will take a roundabout from Razhu Point to return to High School side. The drop point for the passengers will be at Razhu Point and buses will proceed to the parking place at Keziekie, the notice stated.
