Uzara Van Dhan Vikas Kendra scheme launched in Phusachodu
KOHIMA — Uzara Van Dhan Vikas Kendra (UVDVK) under Pradhan Mantri Vandhan Yojana (PMVDY) scheme was launched in Phusachodu village under Phek district on Thursday.
The scheme was launched by Kudecho Khamo, advisor of CAWD and Taxes, in the presence of S Keoshu Yimchunger, advisor of Youth Resources and Sports; Obed Quinker, chairman of Nagaland Beekeeping and Honey Mission (NBHM); and Sentiwapang Aier, NBHM team leader.
Van Dhan scheme was launched by Government of India in 2016 to help tribal communities in India who depend on forest produce for their livelihood.
Advocacy programme marked the launch of Van Dhan Vikas Kendra scheme in Phusachodu.
The PMVDY scheme was funded by TRIFED, Ministry of Tribal Affairs, and organised by NBHM.
Speaking on the occasion, Khamo thanked the NBHM team for connecting Van Dhan scheme with Phusachodu village. He expressed hope that the scheme would go a long way in bringing sustainable livelihood for the village people.
Keoshu and Obed also spoke at the launch programme.
Chairing the launch programme, NBHM deputy team leader, Khuvoyi Vese, informed that Van Dhan scheme would support machineries and tools for livelihood activities in beekeeping and other valued added related products. It would also extend technical support and marketing network, he said.
