STF meeting on Universal Immunisation Programme held in Kohima
DIMAPUR — A State Task Force (STF) meeting on the Universal Immunisation Programme (UIP) was held at the Directorate of Health and Family Welfare (H&FW), IDSP hall in Kohima, on Monday.
According to a DIPR report, Dr. Ritu Thur, Principal Director of Health and Family Welfare, speaking on the occasion, emphasised the department’s commitment to grassroots immunisation efforts and highlighted the goal of eradicating measles and rubella from India by December 2023.
Thur acknowledged the H&FW department as the backbone and encouraged sister departments to mobilise through various platforms. He also mentioned the monthly village outreach health and nutrition days organised by the department in areas lacking health units.
Thur talked about past challenges in immunisation performance but noted recent improvement, crediting collaboration with partner departments. He urged other stakeholders, community leaders, and sister departments to take an active role in the medical department’s activities, particularly in improving immunisation efforts.
Stressing that the government provides vaccines, he called upon departments like Social Welfare and Education to collaborate in achieving the shared goals.
During the meeting, S Tainu, additional secretary of H&FW, expressed gratitude for the initiatives and support received from partner departments in the immunisation programme.
Tainu urged partner departments to raise awareness and collaborate in practical service delivery, stressing the importance of a collaborative effort to reach people in different districts and villages.
