Avoid unnecessary appointments — COPU’s advice to government undertakings
DIMAPUR — The Committee on Public Undertakings (CoPU), led by its chairman, Imkong L Imchen, undertook on-the-spot verifications of different government organisations on November 10 and observed that they must not run on losses.
According to an update, Imchen was accompanied by the members of the committee, which included Hekani Jakhalu, Imkongmar, Dr. Neisatuo Mero, Nuklutoshi, Y Lima Onen Chang, and officials from the Nagaland Legislative Assembly Secretariat.
The committee conducted verifications of Decorative and Dimensional Stone Plant (NSMDC), Chumoukedima; Nagaland Handloom and Handicraft Development Corporation (NHHDC) office, Dimapur; Nagaland Industrial Development Corporation (NIDC) office, Dimapur; and Hotel Saramati, Dimapur.
The committee physically inspected the sites of the corporations and offices to gather first-hand information about the problems they face, noting that government corporations should not operate at a loss but rather profitably and independently.
The committee advised the officials of the organisations to be innovative in their workplaces rather than complacent, and it also advised against overstaffing and making unnecessary appointments.
