Grand Theft Auto 6: Rockstar Games announces release date for first trailer
After much anticipation, Rockstar Games has finally confirmed the imminent arrival of the next instalment in the iconic Grand Theft Auto (GTA) series. In a post on its website, the video game developer announced that the first official trailer for the upcoming GTA game will debut in early December of 2023.
GTA fans have been eagerly awaiting a fresh release for years, and the announcement has ignited a wave of excitement within the gaming community. Grand Theft Auto 5, the most recent entry in the series, hit the scene more than a decade ago.
Rockstar Games initially acknowledged the existence of the next GTA title in February 2022 but has remained tight-lipped about the project until now. However, the company is set to break the silence and celebrate its 25th anniversary by releasing the very first trailer in early December.

Sam Houser, the co-founder of Rockstar Games, expressed his gratitude to the loyal fan base for their unwavering support throughout the years. In a heartfelt blog post, he stated, “Without you, none of this would be possible, and we are so grateful to all of you for sharing this journey with us. In 1998, Rockstar Games was founded on the idea that video games could come to be as essential to culture as any other form of entertainment, and we hope that we have created games you love in our efforts to be part of that evolution.”
“We are very excited to let you know that in early December, we will release the first trailer for the next Grand Theft Auto,” he added.
The company has yet to disclose any details regarding the game’s release date or title. Although fans have commonly referred to it as Grand Theft Auto 6, the company’s use of the term “next Grand Theft Auto” instead of Grand Theft Auto 6 has piqued curiosity, hinting at the possibility of an unexpected title. It’s worth noting that the franchise has previously included non-numbered titles, such as Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.
Additionally, there is speculation that the release date might coincide with The Game Awards 2023 on December 7, but Rockstar Games may choose to drop the trailer on an alternative date.
In terms of story and gameplay, recent leaks hint at a return to the iconic Vice City setting. Moreover, there are rumours of the series featuring its first female protagonist and a fictionalised version of Miami as the primary location, though concrete details are still lacking. Fans eagerly await more information upon the release of the trailer in December.
