Special sales event ‘Tokhü Emong Lotha Entrepreneurs’ underway
WOKHA — With a mission to provide a long lasting platform for upcoming Lotha artisans and facilitate connections between people from different states, a two-day special sales event called ‘Lotha Entrepreneurs’ was inaugurated on Friday at Lotha Hoho Ki as part of part of ‘Tokhü Emong’ celebration.
The event was inaugurated by the Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to Civil Aviation, Railways and Waterways, Ababe Ezung. The ‘Lotha Entrepreneurs’ is a social media community founded by Zaben Murry of Zaben Murry design and Irene Sungbeni of Humtsoe Crafts dedicated to promoting Lotha entrepreneurs both big and small celebrating their entrepreneurial journey.
The two-day ‘Lotha Entrepreneur’ special aims to create a supportive haven for emerging entrepreneurs and celebrate their dedication and talents during the Tokhü Emong festival.
Speaking at the inaugural programme, Ezung said it is by choice that people decide to become entrepreneurs. According to him, every entrepreneur has a struggling stage which requires patience and hard work. He added that for a business to grow, entrepreneurs depended on each other through sharing of knowledge and gaining knowledge. According to him, entrepreneurship is also giving opportunity to other people by creating job opportunities.
In his address to the entrepreneurs, Ezung persuaded them to focus on what they can do and how they can contribute or give back to the society. He reminded that unless they have the zeal and willing to sacrifice, they cannot succeed in business.
In his words, everyone in Nagaland is a second citizen businessman as everyone is just starting, struggling and depending on others and has a lot to learn. However, he expressed optimism that there is a brighter future for Nagaland business industry with a lot of young people putting minds in business.
Ezung felt that the concept of business has completely changed in Nagaland for good with the advent of social media in particular. He urged the entrepreneurs to simultaneously evolve with time and be ready to accept change.
He informed that there are schemes available to support entrepreneurs from the bank as well the state government.
“If you are content with the small business that you are doing, that is also success. Our vision should be to start small and think big,” he asserted.
According to the founders of the Lotha Entrepreneurs event Murry and Irene, the event was aimed at creating a supportive haven for emerging entrepreneurs.
“We’re committed to nurturing their growth, fostering a vibrant entrepreneurial spirit and igniting economic empowerment within the Lotha community,” they stated.
The duo has planned to make the event bigger in the future with seminars and workshops.
