Home department introduces uniforms for Grade IV staff
KOHIMA — In a first of its kind, the Home Department Secretariat Administration Branch (SAB) “B” on Wednesday introduced uniforms for multi-tasking staff (MTS)/ office peons at the Nagaland Civil Secretariat, Kohima.
The uniform was launched by the Home Commissioner, Abhijit Sinha, at his office chamber and handed over the uniform to Yangtsali Sangtam, vice president of Nagaland Civil Secretariat Grade-IV Association.
Speaking at a brief programme, Sinha stated that to provide uniform for MTS while coming for work was felt for a long time, which would not only inculcate better discipline but a sense of dignity and better responsibility. He informed that the uniforms would be worn by the staff from November 2 onwards and expected that every peon working in the Nagaland Civil Secretariat would wear the uniform.
He further informed that there are 567 office peons in the Nagaland Civil Secretariat and added that uniforms would be the same both for men and women.
Meanwhile, Yangtsali Sangtam expressed delight at working with the uniform that gave the identity.
Asela Sangtam, section officer of Home department, SAB-B, said that in October this year, a one day workshop for the Secretariat office peons/ MTS on basic office procedures and etiquettes was also conducted.
She exuded hope that with introduction of the uniform, it would instill the sense of duty and responsibility. She also acknowledged the Home Commissioner for allowing the department to be innovative and do work for the MTS.
