Inter-collegiate volleyball selection trial held

DIMAPUR — Modern College, Piphema, hosted the Nagaland University Inter-Collegiate Volleyball (Men) selection trial, organised by the Department of Sports, Nagaland University (NU), on Saturday.

All together, nine colleges and universities across Nagaland including 38 players participated in the selection trial, an update stated.

The participating colleges and universities included Modern College Piphema; Tetseo College, Chümoukedima; Immanuel College, Dimapur; St. Xavier College, Jalukie; KROS College, Kohima; Nagaland University SAS Medziphema Campus; NU Dimapur Campus; NU Kohima Campus and NU Lumami Campus.

The selection trial matches were played as per the AIU rules and 14 students were selected to represent the State. 

A team of match officials from Nagaland University were present to oversee the trial selection procedures. Dr. Harish Kumar Tiwari, deputy director of Sports, NU, led the team.

The selected students will be playing for East Zone Inter-University Competition to be held in KIIT Bhubaneswar, Odisha, from November 8 to the 11th.

Earlier, the match started with a formal inauguration programme at indoor stadium, Modern College.
