Nagaland’s Chuchuyimlang village receives recognition at 8th World Investment Forum
DIMAPUR — Chuchuyimlang, situated in Nagaland’s Mokokchung district, has achieved the distinction of becoming India’s first Empretec-HiEERA village.
This recognition stems from the village’s adoption of the Empretec-HiEERA Methodology and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) roster of good business linkage practices towards attainment of the United Nations’ 2030 sustainable development goals.
Chuchuyimlang Village Council chairman, Ao Sanen Pongen received the official recognition certificate during the 8th World Investment Forum (WIF) in Abu Dhabi on October 19. The certificate was presented by Dr. Subhransu Sekhar Acharya, Chief General Manager of the Small Industries Development Bank of India, and Arnab Chakrabortty, National Director of Empretec India Foundation.
The UNCTAD High Impact Entrepreneurs from Emerging Regions for Action (HiEERA) programme has been developed by Empretec India Foundation (EIF) to cater to the needs of high-impact (both, high-potential and high-performance) entrepreneurs that includes both culture and linkage-based interventions.
According to a press release received here on Friday, the World Investment Forum is held biennially and a seven-person delegation from Nagaland attended the 8th edition in Abu Dhabi. The delegates include Pongen, Chairman of Chuchuyimlang Village Council, entrepreneur and senior advisor to EIF; Paul Lokho, a pioneer in the NGO sector for North Eastern Region and senior advisor of EIF; Alemjungla Jamir, Chairwoman of Women Entrepreneurship Network Nagaland (WENN) and proprietor of Naga Bowl; Dr. Patu K. Zeliang, an agri extension personnel and working in ICAR KVK Peren; Lieut Col Joy Choudhury, Secretary, Zila Sainik Board, Mokokchung; Caroline Sahnamai Paul, founder of tribal spun and House of Twiss (a unit of textile, art amd crafts); and Wangshikokla Jamir, founder director of International Institute of Medical Research Centre, social worker, entrepreneur, and chief functionary of Molungs women and child welfare society.
A total of 8000 delegates from across the world attended the WIF held from October 16 to the 20th.
The Empretec India Foundation in collaboration with the Department of Industries and Commerce, Government of Nagaland and the Small Industries Development Bank of India facilitated the seven delegates from Nagaland to attend the World Investment Forum, said the press release.
