Dimapur Police destroys drugs worth INR 18.4 crore
DIMAPUR — Drugs Disposal Committee (DCC) of Police Commissionerate, Dimapur, headed by the Commissioner of Police, Kevithuto Sophie, along with DCP Dimapur, DCP Chümoukedima, SP (Crime) PHQ and representatives from the district administration and civil societies destroyed seized narcotic and psychotropic drugs worth INR 18,49,85,085 on October 17 at DMC dumping ground.
A police report issued by the deputy commissioner of police (crime) and PRO, stated that seized drugs such as heroin, ganja, opium, Spasmo Proxyvon, crystal meth, WY (world is yours) tablets, sunflower, brown sugar, areca nuts and cough syrup were destroyed as per the provision of Section 52A of NDPS Act after representative samples drawn in the presence of chief judicial magistrate, Dimapur, along with photographic images recorded after duly verifying the weight of the seized drugs to be destroyed.
It stated that the drugs disposed were related to 82 NDPS cases registered from 2018 to 2022.
The destroyed items included 1793 kg of ganja worth INR 89,65,025; 3208 grams of heroin worth INR 9,62,40,000; 1792 grams of brown sugar worth INR 3,58,50,560; 1,87,482 capsules of Spasmo Proxyvon worth INR 37,49,640; 2,41,000 tablets of WY worth INR 48,20,000; 870 gram of sunflower worth INR 17,40,000; 747 bottles of cough syrup worth INR 1,18,960; 259 bags of areca nut worth INR 40,00,000; 3 kg of opium worth INR 30,00,000; and 883 gram of crystal meth worth INR 2,65,00,900.
