Eye screening for police personnel marks ‘World Sight Day’
DIMAPUR — The District Health Society, Zunheboto, observed ‘World Sight Day’ at the office of the Superintendent of Police, Zunheboto, on Thursday on the theme “Love your eyes at work.”
An update from the office of the chief medical officer (CMO), Zunheboto, stated that Dr. Wobenthung Tsopoe, senior eye specialist, and Yanger, assistant ophthalmic, from District Hospital, Zunheboto, initiated the programme under the National Programme for Control of Blindness and Visual Impairment (NPCB&VI) by providing free eye check-up, medicines and spectacles to the police personnel.
Dr. Tsopoe stated that the event was observed with an aim to encourage employers to make eye health initiatives and promote eye health habits for the wellbeing, safety and productivity of the employees.
He further stated that “Love your eyes at work” campaign was to create awareness to the individuals to take care of their own eye health and to focus the attention of the employees/ workers to get their eyes tested and to take measures to prevent and control eye ailments, creating awareness about the importance of eye testing.
It stated that over 50 eye screening were conducted on police personnel during the programme.
