KOHIMA — As part of ‘National Postal Week,’ Department of Posts, Nagaland, organised a ‘Customer Meet’ and felicitated the Dak Ghar Niryat Kendra (DGNK) and Book Now Pay Later (BNPL) customers at Hotel Cimorb in Kohima on Thursday.

Som Kamei, Postmaster General, NE II region said that Nagaland has now administrative control of incoming and outgoing parcel of the whole state with the opening of the new parcel hub in Dimapur. While informing that earlier the parcels used to go through Assam, which sometimes resulted in delayed, he stated that people can now export items domestic or international with the opening of new parcel hub.

He instructed the superintendent and officials in Nagaland to monitor it saying, “If department is not delivering good services, people will not come as services are competitive now.”

Having noticed that some agro-based products take 48 hours to be processed, he informed that the department is trying to lessen it to 24 hours.

He also shared that the department has planned to deploy own vehicle to the postal route as it is currently depending on the third party for goods delivery, which takes more time. Accordingly, he stated that the regional office has approved four vehicles for Nagaland this year. 

The postal assistant, Daniel Domeh, spoke about two new services in Post department namely DGNK and BNPL. He informed that DGNK service is available in Kohima, Dimapur, Mokokchung, Jalukie, and Phek. He added that the services can be opened in the other districts as well depending on the people’s demand.

Clearing the misconception that export was costly and involved risk, he said there are various low-cost ways to market and promote abroad. He said 60 to 70 percent of Indian exporters are small businessmen and traders. He further pointed out that export have benefits of high return of investment, access to larger market, lower production cost, consistent income, and integrate rural economy to the global economy.

L Tiken Singh, superintendent of posts, Nagaland, also spoke about various services that the department provide to the people including banks, postal services etc.

It was followed with interactive session between Postal officials and the customers. The department has assured to work on the queries and suggestions raised by the customers and improvise the services.
