Nagaland: Man gets 20 years imprisonment for raping minor
DIMAPUR — The Court of Special Judge, POCSO Act, Phek, on Wednesday sentenced a 25-year-old man to 20 years of imprisonment for commission of penetrative sexual assault on a minor in December 2022.
According to the judgement by Neiko Akami, Special Judge (POCSO), Phek Unit, the accused, identified as Kukuto Shijoh, was convicted and sentenced under section 4 (2) of the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Shijoh was also ordered to pay a fine of INR 1000, in default of which he would undergo simple imprisonment of one month.
Additionally, the judge recommended payment of INR 100000 (INR 1 lakh) under the Victim Compensation Scheme 2012, and directed the Phek District Legal Service Authority to pursue payment of compensation to the victim.
