DIMAPUR — Following Saturday’s deadly attack on Israeli towns near the Gaza Strip by Hamas militants, some Naga students currently studying in Israel are reported to be safe and sound.

When contacted, a Naga student told Eastern Mirror from Israel said that there are four Naga students, including two post-doctoral researchers, in the university where he is studying.

He informed that the four of them are living in the university dormitories, which are secure.

The student however said he is unaware of the situation of other Naga people living or studying in other parts of Israel.

India’s Minister of State for External Affairs Meenakshi Lekhi on Sunday said that efforts were on to bring back its students stuck in Israel, in the wake of a terrorist attack by Palestinian militant group Hamas.

According to the Indian Embassy in Israel, there were about 18,000 Indian citizens in Israel, primarily caregivers employed by Israeli elders to take care of them, diamond traders, IT professionals and students.

The embassy on October 7 also issued an advisory for all Indian nationals in Israel, requesting them to remain vigilant and observe safety protocols as advised by local authorities.
