DIMAPUR — Police and Medical departments in Phek jointly conducted a seminar on traffic safety-cum-health camp at Phek town council hall on October 6.
Speaking at the event, the Phek superintendent of police, Dr. Pritpal Kaur, delved into various traffic rules and legal procedures. She cautioned against alcohol consumption, use of mobile phones and other distracting activities while driving. She also emphasised the importance of being a responsible driver and encouraged the participants to act as good Samaritans during emergencies.
Dr. Kaur also imparted crucial first-aid techniques and safety precautions to the audience.
Meanwhile, the SDPO of Meluri, Peter Shuya, enlightened the audience about the significance of traffic signs and symbols. He provided examples of exemplary traffic habits observed in different regions and emphasised on the importance of adhering to traffic sense. He also elucidated the Motor Vehicle Act.
Following the seminar, a free medical camp was conducted by Dr. Ngopelo Keviechu and his team. During the health camo, Dr. Keviechu demonstrated life-saving techniques such as CPR, ABC, and other first aid methods by emphasising on the importance of prompt and correct response in emergencies.
The event commenced with an invocation prayer said by Veruyoyi, pastor of PBC, Phek.
The report stated that the seminar drew a diverse audience including students from GHS School Phek, personnel from the 5th NAP and Phek Police, public leaders, representatives from the Drivers’ Union, vehicle owners, Taxi Union, Phek Town Youth Society, and ANTA members.
It further stated that the collaborative initiative proved to be an informative and empowering experience for the community in promoting road safety awareness and equipping the participants with essential life-saving skills.
