KOHIMA — A revised edition of the book titled ‘Seweda’ (in Tenyidie) written by late Khrieü Sekhose (1931–2014) was formally launched with a prayer pronounced by Rev. Viwelie Khezie of Khedi Baptist Church at De Oriental Grand, Kohima, on Sunday.
Ura Academy first published ‘Seweda’ in 1982. It is a book on the art of weaving and epitomises the author’s great passion and concern for Naga traditional fabrics.
During the official launch, Kezhalenuo Kesiezie (the eldest of the late Khrieü Sekhose’s children) spoke on behalf of the family about the author and the book.
The author was described as a woman ahead of her time, a writer, teacher, cultural thinker, and pianist.
Vishu Rita Krocha of PenThrill Publication House, the publisher of the book, said that the revised hardcover edition of ‘Seweda’ is the 80th publication of PenThrill and also the third book in Tenyidie.
“It is an honour for PenThrill to publish the work of this extraordinary woman,” Krocha said, adding that her work speaks volumes about her love and passion for Naga traditional attire.
She hoped that every reader would gain wisdom and insights about the art of weaving traditional attire through the book.
