DIMAPUR — Assam Rifles undertook afforestation and cleanliness drive in Tsuma village and along the NH 129A in Peren district on September 23 on the theme “Our planet, our health.”
A defence release stated that Assam Rifles personnel along with villagers and youth including 62 students planted 570 saplings of various fruit bearing and other ornamental trees. Besides, the villagers, youth and children were also briefed about the importance on conservation of nature, wildlife protection and ecological balance.
In another programme, Assam Rifles provided emergency assistance to a civil patient by donating two units of blood at District Hospital in Phek Nagaland.
It stated a patient was admitted to the hospital with an urgent requirement of blood due to severe anemia. It stated that Assam Rifles personnel donated two units of blood and was able to save his life.
Meanwhile, Assam Rifles organised ‘A day with company commander’ for the students of Little Daffodils Higher Secondary School (LDHSS) in Doyapur on September 22.
During the event, various activities such as motivational lecture, fun games, singing of patriotic songs with jazz band of Assam Rifles and visit to quarter guard were conducted. It stated a total of 40 students along with two teachers participated in the programme.
