Yorüba Lohe sub-clans withdraw support for former VCC
DIMAPUR — The chairmen of three Lohemi sub-clans, Veswünumi, Tütseyinumi, and Chonumi, as well as concerned members of Yorüba village in Phek district, held an emergency meeting recently at Lhüveyi Lohe’s residence at Yorüba village.
A press note signed by the three chairmen of the three sub-clans mentioned that the meeting deliberated about the village council members (VCMs) validity status with regard to Vethisa Lohe, who was elected village council chairman (VCC) for the current tenure.
However, it said that following his removal as VCC Yorüba by the order of DC Phek dated July 25, the three clans had withdrawn support for him as he had already forfeited the VCM seat.
Pusalhü Lohe (Tütseyinumi Lohe sub-clan), Vecizo Lohe (Tütseyinumi Lohe sub-clan), Zacikhoyi Lohe (Cho-onumi Lohe sub-clan), and Lhürayi Lohe (Veswünumi Lohe sub-clan) are the four VCMs legally representing the Lohemi Khel, Yorüba village.
The VCMs have been selected by consensus to represent each sub-clan for the current tenure, according to the press note.
The three Lohe Khel sub-clans unanimously declared that Vethisa Lohe, former VCC, is no longer a VCM of any of the three Lohe Khel sub-clans, Yorüba village, effective July 25.
The note said that his unbecoming behaviour has brought disgrace and humiliation to the Lohe clan in particular and Village Council Yorüba in general and added that, henceforth, all the Lohe clan has withdrawn their support for him.
“As a matter of fact, he no longer represents any of the Lohe clan or its sub-clans in the Village Council Yorüba,” the note read, and said that Vethisa Lohe is not fit at all to run the affairs of Yorübami Village Council, and as such, the Lohe clans of Yorüba Village would not be held responsible for his misconduct in the affairs of the village council hereafter.
