‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ sees Pungro students collect 8 trucks of garbage
DIMAPUR — The Pungro administration, in collaboration with the Pungro Champion, held a Swachhata Hi Seva campaign with the theme ‘garbage free Pungro’ on September 16.
According to a press release, 839 students and 64 teachers from seven different schools participated in the campaign, and as many as eight pickup trucks of garbage were collected from the entire Pungro town.
Each school was designated as a cleanliness team with its own garbage collection jurisdiction. The campaign began at 8:30 am and ended at 11 am.
The school with the best performance was awarded cash and a certificate, while the other school received a certificate of appreciation for their participation.
GPS Forest Ward, Pungro Town, was awarded the best performing school for the campaign this year, with 21 students from Classes 1 to 4 participating.
Throngso, brand ambassador for the Swacchata Hi Seva campaign and advisor to the Pungro Town Students Union, highlighted on the occasion about the campaign, and EAC Yitachu Thur administered the pledge and delivered exhortations.
Following the event, the garbage was disposed of at a dumping site.
