Archery introduced at Mt. Tiyi College in Wokha

WOKHA — Advisor for Agriculture Mhathung Yanthan on Friday inaugurated the introduction of archery sport discipline, under the aegis of district sports council, at Mt. Tiyi College, Wokha.

Addressing the inauguration programme, Yanthan said that the college has the best location and its spacious campus holds ample scope for introducing various sporting activities for the students.

Terming the event as momentous and historic, he expressed optimism that though archery has just hit Wokha, the district will excel in the days to come.

He said that given the right training and dedication, the players from the district can excel in any sports discipline.

Pointing out that the college has produced many eminent personalities, he reminded the students to uphold their identity and take up their duties responsibly.

The advisor further advised the students to be committed, sincere and dedicated to becoming somebody in life.

Deputy Commissioner of Wokha, Ajit Kumar Ranjan, in his speech, encouraged the students to be focused and to set targets to achieve their goals. With the introduction of archery in the college, the DC also conveyed hopes that this will enhance the college’s NAAC accreditation.

District Youth Resource Officer and District Sports Officer, Libemo Jami, assured that the department will provide guidance and required resources.

Earlier, the principal of Mt. Tiyi College, in her welcome address, briefed on the history of archery, and acknowledged the deputy commissioner, chairman of the college and the district youth resource officer, for their efforts in introducing archery to the college.

Yanthan was accompanied by Y Mhonbemo Humtsoe, MLA.
