PHED felicitates best performing SSG villages

DIMAPUR — Tuensang division of the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) felicitated Chingmei and Old Mangakhi villages for securing the best performing village under Swachh Survekshan Grameen (SSG) 2023 during a programme held at the DC’s office in Tuensang town on September 14.

An update from PHED Tuensang division stated that the deputy commissioner of Tuensang, Litrongla Tongpi Rutsa, gave away the award comprising cash prizes and certificates to Chingmei and Old Mangakhi villages. The awards were given in recognition of their performances on the SSG 2023 survey exercise which was based on key qualitative and quantitative SBM (G)  parameters.

Speaking at the event, Rutsa encouraged all the stakeholders to actively participate and create awareness amongst the communities about the importance of working together towards making their village better and cleaner. She also lauded the officers of PHED Tuensang division for their sincerity and continued efforts in bringing about improvement on SBM(G)  phase-II and ODF plus initiative in rural areas.

The programme was chaired by PHED executive engineer of Tuensang division, Kedolutho Punyu, wherein he informed that Swachh Survekshan Grameen (SSG) 2023 is India’s largest cleanliness survey which is a comprehensive assessment programme that evaluates the progress and impact of (SBM) G in rural areas. He urged the villages to cooperate with the department in undertaking any SBM(G)  related activities/ initiatives.

Short speeches were delivered by Chuba Chang, chairmen of Chingmei village council, and N Chonyimong Sangtam, chairman of Old Mangakhi village council.
