NH 702D
A portion of the deplored stretch of road from New Camp to Longtho of NH 702D.

MOKOKCHUNG — Limatoshi, executive engineer, PWD (NH), Division II, Mokokchung, said on Wednesday that the stretch of road from New Camp to Longtho of NH 702D is not in a traffic-worthy condition; however, he hinted of relief as a short-term maintenance contract (STMC) proposal has been submitted to the head office.

Limatoshi mentioned this while the State Geology and Mining (G&M) department was conducting a geological and geotechnical investigation of landslides and subsidence at the Mongsenbai ward of Mokokchung Town along NH 702D.

If STMC (Sewak to Longtho) is approved and sanctioned, he said it would look after the maintenance work before the NH 702D two-lane detail project report (DPR) is approved. It was reported that the STMC proposal was submitted to the higher authority on August 25.

He specifically mentioned that STMC is not intended for bitumen works but will be limited to granular sub-base only and added that the department is also engaged in pothole repairs, jungle cutting, and landslide clearance on NH 702D.

In regards to the NH 702D two-lane project, he said that the Ministry of Road Transport and Highway, regional office Guwahati, has awarded the project management consultancy service (PMCS) to Marc Technocrats Private Limited, a Haryana based firm, for preparation of the DPR, pre-construction activity, and construction supervision of two-lane work with paved shoulders from Mokokchung to Watiyim (70 km) on NH 702D on May 10, 2023.

The PMCS contract specifies a timeline, including an eight-month feasibility survey report, 10 months for DPR preparation, 24 months for executing the work, and a 60-month maintenance period by the contractor.
