AKM launches free coaching for HSLC repeaters

 MOKOKCHUNG — The Ao Students’ Conference (AKM) launched its free coaching classes for HSLC repeaters for the 2023 session at the AKM Conference Hall in Mokokchung town on Monday.

Speaking on the occasion, Jonglemdong, senior sub-divisional education officer of Mokokchung, expressed his gratitude to AKM for its long-standing commitment to the initiative, which has provided valuable services to students over the years. He encouraged the students to seize this opportunity with renewed zeal.

Emphasising that the purpose of education is not only to ensure students succeed in exams but also to foster true learning, Jonglemdong said that effective studying is not just about the number of hours spent but also about genuine learning. He added that time management and consistency in one’s routine are important factors in achieving success.

He urged students to maintain their interest in the course and to constantly assess and work towards their goals. He also reminded them to prioritise their health and maintain healthy lifestyles and relationships, especially with their parents or guardians, as these factors contribute to sincerity and dedication in one’s endeavours.

Satemmongba, AKM general secretary, mentioned during the event that AKM has been offering the programme since 1997, primarily to Class 10 students attempting to pass the HSLC examination.

He spoke proudly of the many students who have benefited from this programme over the years and encouraged current students to take full advantage of the coaching classes.

He urged them to seek clarification from teachers and AKM officials as needed and expressed his belief that their journey would be successful with dedication and support.

Lanulemba, AKM education secretary, presented the programme guidelines and clarified that it is open to students from all communities, not just the Ao community. He mentioned that the programme was initially scheduled for August 6 but was postponed due to the NSF conference and other activities.

He said that the coaching would last four months leading up to the final exams and warned that those who would not adhere to AKM’s rules and regulations would be discontinued. He also expressed hope that the 13 students who have signed up this year would follow the guidelines, ensuring a productive teaching and learning process.

Appreciating the teachers who would be conducting the classes — Jaya Singh (Maths), Limasenla (Social Sciences), Kivikali (English), and Imjungwati (Maths) — he stressed that strict attendance and adherence to rules and regulations would be maintained, including a ban on tobacco use.

On Monday, an orientation programme was also held, and classes would commence on Tuesday, September 12.
