With a very rich history of knowledge and various other golden events happening in India that gave birth to some of the important major fields of education, Indian Education does surely acclaimed a lot of praise worldwide. However, when it comes to imparting skills on a global level, the overall general basic education of the countries in the western countries are given more valuation and preference in comparison to Indian education.
One of the very major points that many students agree upon is that foreign education has a lot more creativity and innovation in comparison to Indian education. The process of foreign
Education is more of a practical approach while Indian education’s is more theoretical. The way they deal and implement the concepts and apply those in real life situations.
The education system in India is very different from the education system in the other countries. Often, the Indian education system is criticised for not providing a diverse platform to students where they get an opportunity of learning practically. The circumstances of a country play an important role in the foundation of an education system as well as shaping that education system in the coming years. The surroundings, the source, the process and various other factors are also essential. While the roots of the Indian education system originate from the British education system itself, its consequential state resulted from the lack of essential infrastructure and funds. Indian education is not able to provide the opportunities to the students for research-based knowledge work, due to a shortage of facilities, mediums, funds that are very often overlooked by the government. Research education in many foreign deemed institutions is being funded by not only the government but also by many big companies and organisations of the world like Microsoft, Google, etc. thereby increasing the chances of good research initiatives.
Foreign education curriculum contains everything from arts to sports along with studies. The US has arts, sports, music and theatre in the syllabus. Australia focuses more on sports; they have cricket, hockey and boxing in their college. Whereas Indian education system only emphasises on studies. The Indian education system was based on rote learning, it focuses more on knowledge rather than experience. A student studying through the Indian education system gain knowledge about everything but lack creative learning and thinking.
Another difference is that, instead of using books, most foreign schools provide a device where they can go to a website for a particular subject. The reason is that, the subject textbook has a limit to a topic/lesson but websites on the other hand can provide way more information on a particulartopic. The Indian education system do not really encourage the students to go out and about their thoughts.
Though the Indian education has a number benefits and it has also achieved worldwide acknowledgement with its recognised decent variety of character. It can improve its flaws and hopefully one day be considered one of the best education system. And that is why we are comparing our Indian education system to foreign education system to identify some of the flaws and change for the better.
Suicide is a complex and sensitive issue that affect societies around the world. India has grapped with an alarming sucide rates, drawing attention to the need for a comprehensive understanding of the undying cause; challengesand potential solutions. A survey states that the age group with the most suicide rates in India are around 15-29 years. Most people around this age are students and are undergoing further studies. More than 35 students die due to suicide in India reported by the National Crime Burea’s (NCRB) accidental deaths and suicide in India (ADSI). Most of these cases are because the victim is stressed with parental pressure and their studies. Death is not a matter that is to be taken lightly and shaken off easily. This calls for the awareness of Mental Health. The Indian Government and various NGOs have initiated programs to address Mental Health and suicide prevention but the results of suicide rates in India claim to have risen. Between 2020 and 2021, there was a 7.1 percent increase. India has the 41st highest suicide rate globally as for 2019.
How can we prevent this from happening? Are the suicide helplines really doing their jobs well or is it because the victims don’t ask help in the first place? Depression can be really hard on a victim with or without help and should be considered no joke. If you do know anyone suffering or you yourself are suffering with depression with suicide, please know that you are not alone.
