Nagaland: 11 receive TaFMA Excellence awards

KOHIMA — Nagaland Governor La. Ganesan gave away the Task Force for Music and Arts (TaFMA) excellence awards to 11 recipients at a ceremony held in RCEMPA, Jotsoma on Monday.

The 11 recipients are Abel Assumi – Artist of the Year (International Brilliance Awardee); Moa Subong (Padma Shri Awardee); Sunep A Jamir (4 Superwinners of Nexa Music); Guru Zachunu Keyho (Sangeet Natak Akademi Awardee); Imnaainla Jamir (The H.E.R Awardee); Moko Koza (Best Hip Hop Rap artist Awardee at Radio City Freedom Awards); Kuvelu Tetseo – (Indian Icon Awardee); Tetseo Sisters (National Excellence Awardee); N.K Naga (Sangeet Natak Akademi Awardee); Tonoto Zhimomi (Mister Altitude World People’s Choice Awardee); and Andrea Kevichusa (Filmfare Awardee – Best Female Debut).

Kevichusa received the Ultimate Achiever of the Year 2023 award, receiving a Toyota Glanza, sponsored by Okusa Toyota.

All the 11 recipient were awarded with INR 20,000, medallion, and certificate each.

Addressing the gathering, the governor said TaFMA has been a beacon of cultural excellence in Nagaland since its inception. Under the vision of the government, it has not just thrived but has flourished. The impact is felt not only in the state but also resonates strongly in the digital platforms.

The TaFMA’s dedication in promoting and preserving music and the arts in Nagaland is nothing short of remarkable. It worked tirelessly to create platforms and opportunities for artistes and musicians to showcase their talents, both within and outside the state, the governor said.

‘State government has played a pivotal role in nurturing and supporting the music and arts fraternity in Nagaland. Recognising the cultural richness and artistic potential, the government allocated resources and implemented policies to bolster the creative sector. These efforts have resulted in a thriving artistic community that contributes not only to the state’s cultural heritage but also to the economy,’ he added.

He further told the fathering to cherish the occasion as a reflection of their commitment to the arts and a celebration of the boundless artistic potential that Nagaland holds.

Chairman of TaFMA, Theja Meru said the excellence award was to honour 11 extraordinary achievers who have made their marks at national and international platforms.

Their achievements only go out to prove that dreams are meant to be fulfilled and impossible is nothing, he said, adding that the award is a gesture to say “thank you” for their hard work, for excelling in their respective fields, for being the inspiration, and for making Nagaland proud.

Speaker of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly, Sharingain Longkumer; IDAN Chairman and advisor to the chief minister, Abu Metha; and Advisor of Youth Resources and Sports, S Keoshu Yimchunger also attended the programme.
