KOHIMA — Minister of Women Resource Development and Horticulture, Salhoutuonuo Kruse, on Wednesday, August 30, stated that political party offices are vital for the effective functioning and growth of the parties, which also symbolises the party’s dedication and services to its people.

She stated this during the office inaugural programme of the 8th Western Angami A/C, Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) at New Market (TCP gate) in Kohima.

Expressing delight at the inauguration of the new office, she urged the members to work with more commitment and sincerity to address the challenges faced by the society and channel its energies into finding solutions to the needs of the people. She added that the office represents the hopes and aspirations of the citizens who believe in the party’s vision for growth and progress of the state.

Kruse said, ‘We must always remember the power we hold as a political party and the trust bestowed upon us by the electorates.’

She told the party members to utilise the office as a hub for dialogue, sharing and innovative thinking and for collaboration that transcends personal interests besides working together to bridge divides, address grievances and forge ahead with a common purpose for the uplift of the society and to translate the party’s visions and commitment.

Meanwhile, president of NDPP Kohima region, Prasielie Pienyü, congratulated the Western Angami AC and advised them to make use of the new office as a medium to enhance party cohesiveness and efficiency, thereby strengthening the party.

He also called for unity and understanding among the party leader and members to face the challenges that are ahead citing ULB elections, delimitation, and Lok Sabha election 2024.

While stating that most political parties failed to deliver their promises, he maintained that NDPP is a party that delivers particularly with regard to youth and women empowerment and gender equality.

Pienyü was of the view that women’s empowerment has become essential owing to the absence of women in the decision-making bodies in the state for so long despite excelling in various fields.

Commending the two elected women legislators for showing the way, he was optimistic that they would deliver goods to the people with the support and cooperation of the party members.

The new office was dedicated with a prayer by Avilie Punyü, pastor of Bethel Baptist Church.
