SAMETI conducts training on ‘promoting one district one crop’
DIMAPUR — State Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (SAMETI), Medziphema, organised a two-day training programme on “Promoting one district one crop” on August 24 and 25.
The main objective of the training was to realise the advantage of scale for procuring inputs, marketing goods and accessing common services. An update from SAMETI stated that the ‘one district one product’ scheme would provide the basis to develop value chains and align infrastructure to support them.
The resource persons of the training were Kiyelu T Yeptho, inspector at District Industry Centre (DIC), Dimapur; Dr. Lowrence Kithan, scientist from SAS-NU, Medziphema; and Dr. Abon Yanthan, scientist from ICAR Research Complex, Nagaland centre, Medziphema.
It stated that the resource persons have deliberated on the introduction and awareness programme on ‘One district One crop’ under Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprise (PMFME), production technology of agronomical crops related to ‘one district one product’ and post-harvest management and value addition of horticulture crops.
It added that the participants were taken for a field visit to Saucy Joe’s at Padampukhuri, Dimapur; Zoone Food Products at Nepali Kashiram, Dimapur; and to SASRD, NU Medziphema.
At the valedictory programme, the director of SAMETI and principal of IETC, Dr. Watimongla Jamir, gave away certificates to the participants.
