Union minister reviews central flagship programmes

DIMAPUR — Union Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and Employment, Bhupender Yadav, has reviewed the central flagship programmes and enquired from the public whether those schemes have been implemented to their satisfaction.

Yadav, who visited the oil palm field in Ngwalwa village under Peren district on Friday, raised those queries during interaction with the village council members.

A DIPR report stated that the minister had enquired about the status of the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) as to whether the villagers have gained access to water tap connections. Additionally, he discussed the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY), a flagship scheme aiming to provide clean cooking LPG gas to people living below the poverty line (BPL).

It stated that the village council members have apprised the minister that every household within their jurisdiction has been implemented successfully. They also shared information about the village’s progress including the registration of 632 job cards, development projects such as approach road and fishery as well as extensive tree plantation efforts.

Speaking at an interactive session with senior officers at the Jalukie Range Office on August 24, Yadav stated that Peren district holds immense value and is termed as a vital part of the country. The session was hosted by the state Forest minister, CL John.

In his speech, Yadav emphasised the important role of self-help groups (SHG) in expediting the economic development of both the district and the state. He stated that the activities of self-help groups could significantly contribute to elevating the economic status of society, leading to holistic development.

He has appreciated the efforts of the Forest department in collaborating with self-help groups to promote a sustainable green environment in the district. He also congratulated Nagaland Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio, for his visionary leadership to uplift the state and foster development.

During an outdoor session, Yadav inaugurated a public park-cum-botanical garden visited stalls set up by the self-help groups and interacted with the members.

He also launched the King Chilli cluster product, a creation of the self-help groups. The event also featured the release of the Doyang Wetland Compendium and interactive posters showcasing the birds of Nagaland. The Tokhu Emong bird count initiative was also inaugurated during the programme.

In a meeting with the head of offices in Peren district, Yadav highlighted the achievements under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and mentioned that 13.5 crore Indian families have transitioned from poverty to the middle class. He encouraged the district officers to ensure that the benefits of various schemes reach the targeted beneficiaries.

The minister further appreciated the informative PowerPoint presentations from various departments and urged officers to enhance their development activities in the state.
