Nagaland DGP launches Smart Zunheboto Police app
KOHIMA — Nagaland’s Director General of Police (DGP) Rupin Sharma on Tuesday launched the Smart Zunheboto Police application.
The launching programme was held at PHQ conference hall, Kohima, in the presence of senior police officers.
A first-of-its-kind innovation under police modernisation, the Smart Zunheboto Police app can be downloaded through the website zunhebotopolice.in and also from iOS and Android app stores.
The application has nine modules which include village guard system, resource management, disaster response, command and control centre, missing child tracker, foster care tracker, job verification, staff management and fake news mitigation.
The Smart Zunheboto Police application is claimed to have an integrated ecosystem with people, technology, data and processes engaging ministry, administration, constabulary and citizens.
The app also has features of leave management, salary slips, pension application and rewards and recognition for staff welfare, besides resource management on arms management, inventory, duty management, mission and campaigns.
Addressing the launching event, the state police chief appreciated the initiative of Superintendent of Police, Zunheboto, and said that the system will modernise the department to operate in a smarter way to protect and serve.
Expounding that policing is not only ‘Khakhi,’ Sharma also stressed the need to build trust among the people and the citizens.
Observing that in Nagaland too, policing is catching up slowly, he also underscored the need to do more in matters relating to police verifications.
The DGP also laid emphasis on the need for citizens to have confidence in the Nagaland Police in their deliveries.
Superintendent of Police, Zunheboto, Vishal, in his speech, said the launching of the application marks significant milestones in the journey towards safer and smarter policing in Nagaland.
He maintained that the application is to ensure the safety and security of the people, while also marking it as a symbol of police commitment to enhancing law enforcement and public safety, as the application will enable them to communicate effectively and share critical information in real-time.
Vishal also exuded hope that the technology will bridge the police and public trust.
