Workshop on re-engineering and restructuring of DI and DICs held in Kohima
DIMAPUR — The Directorate of Industries and Commerce, government of Nagaland, conducted a workshop titled ‘study on re-engineering and restructuring of DI and DICs in Kohima, Nagaland’ on Thursday at the conference hall of the District Industries Centre, Kohima.
The event was organised in collaboration with the National Institute of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise (NI-MSME) Hyderabad as part of the North Eastern Council (NEC) project.
On the occasion, Sanjiv Dey delivered a presentation outlining the study’s objectives, stating that the study aims to revitalise DI and DICs by aligning them with the industrial policies of the eight northeastern states.
The key objectives include promoting enterprises, generating employment, bolstering economic sectors, and addressing unemployment. The presentation encouraged participants to identify potential schemes for future entrepreneurship.
Y Intsangju Sangtam, general manager of DIC Kohima, discussed the DIC’s pivotal role in driving industrial development.
He highlighted various initiatives, including schemes for MSMEs as well as schemes like the Chief Minister Microfinance Initiative (CMMFI) and One District One Product (ODOP). He also stressed the importance of registering units under these initiatives.
The workshop drew participation from DI and DIC officials, stakeholders, existing and potential entrepreneurs, industry associations, representatives from YouthNet, and students from Kohima College.
